Another crazy project from Saudi Arabia: Aquellum, an underground skyscraper

NEOM, which we have heard of with its 170 km long line-shaped futuristic and crazy city project The Line in Saudi Arabia, has announced another crazy project.

NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s regional development initiative, has announced a 100-meter-deep “underground skyscraper” project extending underground at the foot of the 450-meter-high mountain range along the coastline of the Gulf of Aqaba.

Visitors leaving the world’s first floating marina, called Aquellum, will be able to reach the gigantic underground city via a secret underground canal. The futuristic project, in the form of an underground cave with a water-filled floor, is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

In addition to hotel rooms, apartments, shops, museums, entertainment venues, and social spaces, the underground city will also include a research laboratory called “Generator”. Aquellum, which will be built by pushing the limits of today’s construction techniques, seems to be a project that will make a name for itself.
