Horned ‘star’ of US Congress raid: we won

“I consider this a win,” said Angeli, who stood out from among Trump supporters attacking Congress in a furry-horned hat with a naked top and a face painted on the US flag, noting that those who happened to the election crouched on the floor, wore gas masks and fled to an underground bunker.

Jake Angeli, the most notable figure in the January 6 attack on Congress by supporters of President Donald Trump, who lost the November 3 election in the United States, spoke to NBC as he prepared to return to his hometown of Arizona from the capital, Washington, D.C.

Angeli, who stood out from among the other attackers in a furry-horned hat with his face painted on the US flag, said he saw what happened in Congress during the attacks as a win on their behalf.

“In the face of the fact that we have a handful of traitors who are scared at work, crouching on the ground, wearing gas masks and fleeing to an underground bunker, I consider it a win,” said Angeli, 33, who describes himself as a ‘shaman’ of the pro-Trump, far-right organization QAnon, which spreads conspiracy theories.

The attackers, who Federal investigators are trying to identify from surveillance footage and social media posts, were the most recognizable at first glance, he said, not caring about the investigation. Comparing himself to Mahatma Gandhi, the passive resistance leader who Independent India from British colonialism, and Martin Luther King, the civil rights leader who fought racism in the United States and passive resistance, Angeli added, “What I did was civil disobedience.”:

“I didn’t do anything wrong. The door was open, I came in, man.”

Indeed, Trump supporters came out again, waving their hands and arms, after doing all sorts of vandalism in the Congress they entered.
