The new Kia EV8 revealed: 603 horsepower and an 800 km range

Hyundai Kia Group is planning to introduce a new model developed on a new electric vehicle platform. The car, codenamed GT1, which is being developed thanks to a document leaked to Korean media, will replace the gasoline-powered Stinger and will likely be called the Kia EV8. The sports sedan is expected to be based on the group’s next-generation EV architecture.

Hyundai previewed the platform in mid-2023 under the name Integrated Modular Platform (IMA), but the documentation refers to it as the eM platform. The Genesis GV90 developed on the new platform is expected to be launched in 2025, after which Hyundai and Kia will launch their own models based on the architecture.

According to the document leaked by Korean Car Blog, the car will have a twin-engine capable of delivering up to 603 horsepower. Other variants of the GT1 will have between 215 horsepower and 429 horsepower.

Comes with a 113 kWh battery

These motors will be powered by a massive 113.2 kWh battery pack. It will come with a significantly larger battery than the 99.8 kWh battery of the Kia EV9. With this battery pack, the car will be able to offer a range of around 700-800 km.

Production of the GT1 is scheduled to start in 2026 at Kia’s Hwaseong Plant. The launch will be part of a wider range of new vehicles from both the Kia and Hyundai brands, starting with Hyundai Group’s Genesis GV90 in 2025.
